The RKC ONNA-MUSHA Open

The RKC Onna-Musha Open

The 2024 RKC's "ONNA-MUSHA OPEN" is an open championship competition that will be open to all female kendo members who are 14 years and older. This year it will be held on 10 August 2024 (Saturday) from 9 am to 12 pm at the Rivonia Sports Club.


The following competition categories will take place this year


1) Kendo Kids Round Robin Matches (boys and girls, 14 year and younger, with bogu)


2) Individual Women in Bogu Competition


The registration fee for this competition will be R150, which will cover the expenses incurred to host this event. Any surplus funds raised will be donated to the #SendRayAway campaign, our crowd-funding initiative to help Ray sensei achieve this dream of a Kendo 6th dan!


Please note that the competition fee will be billed to your home dojo.


FAMILY, FRIENDS and SPECTATORS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND! NO ENTRANCE FEE FOR SPECTATING!


The program for the day is as follows :

7h30 - 9h00 : Regular RKC Training Session

9h00 - 9h20: Setup & Registration

9h20 - 9h30: Opening Ceremony

9h30 - 10h00: Kendo Kids Round Robin Matches

10h00- 11h50: Individual Women in Bogu Competition

11h50-12h00: Awards & Closing Ceremony


Shiai-Jo Layout

Competition Rules:

There will be various rules for the various competitions:



For the Kendo Kids Bogu Round Robin Matches, the following rules will apply:


  • The matches will be done in accordance with the FIK Shiai rules, AS WELL AS the temporary FIK rules that are in place due to the pandemic.

  • Fights will be done as sanbon-shobu.

  • ALL fights will be max. 2-mins long.



For the  Individual Women In Bogu Competition the following rules will apply:

  • The matches will be done in accordance with the FIK Shiai rules, AS WELL AS the temporary FIK rules that are in place due to the pandemic.

  • Fights will be done as sanbon-shobu.

  • ALL fights will be max. 3-mins long. Finals will be 5 mins.
